About This Program

AHEC West's Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) training is MABPCB-approved and designed for individuals with lived experience of addiction and recovery who want to formalize their role supporting others. Completion prepares participants to apply for the Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential.

Training combines the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy®, Mental Health First Aid, and three self-paced modules covering ethics, addiction fundamentals, and trauma-informed care.

📋 CCAR Recovery Coach Academy® — Aug 17–21, 5:00–9:00 PM (live via Zoom, all 5 sessions required)

🧠 Mental Health First Aid — Aug 24, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM (live via Zoom)

💻 Compassion Over Judgment, Addiction & Recovery 101, ACEs & Trauma-Informed Care — Aug 25–28, self-paced with required discussion posts

🎓 Program manual and MHFA digital platform access included · MABPCB Approved · 52 hours across all five competency domains

💵 $499 · Free for Allegany & Garrett County residents through grant funding
